Maxine and Neil met the glamorous way — at Burger King. What began as working shifts together quickly turned into something more when Neil had a shift in Maxine’s store and she decided to “check up” on him. Professional? Perhaps not. Worth it? Absolutely.

Their first date was coffee… despite the fact that Neil does not actually like coffee. It turned out the company was better than the caffeine, and from that point on they more or less did everything together. Work breaks became dinner dates, which became holidays, which became building a life side by side.

Over the years, life has taken them far beyond that first café. Two years ago, they moved to Switzerland and began their next chapter — complete with their little dog, Bonnie, an ongoing musical theatre obsession, a shared love of good food, and the occasional heated debate about directions (Maxine insists she’s right).

Neil proposed in the most unforgettable way: during a candlelit dinner at a jungle resort in India. Surrounded by romance, flickering candles, and what were very likely a few nearby feline predators, he asked — and Maxine said yes.
